New Year New Hope New Brunch
1/12/25
Brunch is back to help kick off your new year with delicious food, delightful company, and most importantly, the opportunity to deepen our connections with each other. It’s a perfect way to ignite the Hope of this Jubilee Year and break bread in a new way with others in our Xavier community. There’s room for everyone at these tables, where we help keep the conversation flowing so that no one feels like a stranger—and who knows, your raffle ticket just might be a winner! Let’s bring a the light of Hope to each other's new year—see you at Brunch!
Connection takes time and intention.
Most Sunday afternoons you'll see friend groups, families, first dates and reunions spilling onto Chelsea sidewalk cafés. These small groups are taking time - and sparing no expense - to invest in their relationships.
Brunch Ministry aims to elevate this experience to a communal one that we share as a parish, where costs are covered and accessibility is considered so that all may come to the table.
Brunch Ministry is Free for Everyone
But it definitely has a cost. Contributions of time, talent and treasure make this series self-sustaining! Send us a note at brunchministry@sfxavier.org if you're interested in helping out - especially for any of these 3 big supports we always need:
Clean up Crew
We don’t make a big mess, but we do use shared spaces so it’s really important to “leave no trace.”Many hands makes light work - stick around and help a bit before you go!
Table Facilitator
We want our guests to know we're glad they're here. Facilitators make that happen by
Welcoming them to their assigned table
Directing them to the food
Relaying the easy-going structure of the brunch, and
Explaining getting-to-know-you conversations prompts.
Most importantly, we invite guests to breathe in the soft spirit that is the actual connection. .
When the fun conversation starters are shown on the screen, facilitators will keep things moving by encouraging those who might be shy, focusing those who might be wandering, reminding all that they're in good, safe company. Overall, if the facilitators are relaxed and going with the flow, the guests will feel that and find themselves enjoying the whole experience as well.
Financial Supporter
Our parish leadership has made a startup investment to help launch of the series, and will always support this ministry in some way. But we hope to free up those parish financial resources for the many necessary services our parish provides by shifting to an community supported ministry, an investment the community makes in itself.
$50 covers one brunch + a tip for our caterer
$100 covers one brunch + 2 guests
$400 covers a case of bubbly
$4,000 covers the whole thing
If you’re able to help cover those costs, we’d love your help making this ministry sustainable.

Time to talk and build relationships with fellow parishioners we recognize but don't yet know
Connections across our flourishing ministries, not just within
"Embrace the Encounter" - leverage the diversity of identities and lived experiences in our local and global community to celebrate the infinite possibilities in God’s creation and be a desperately needed voice for holy unification.
